Even though there are A lot of mobile applications and online maps are available to display transit lines, it is recommended to always have at least a copy of the official subway map provided by MTA.

Official maps can be found on the MTA website. In case riders are interested, ticket booths that are conveniently located in each station are offering physical maps for free. Since the map can change several times a year, passengers are recommended to always get the latest version.

Maps are intentionally designed to highlight the subway stations, lines, and connections. It is considered that stations might be located farther from each other than they can appear on the map.

The thick, solid-colored lines that can be seen on the map represent the subway lines.

Unlike many other subway networks around the world, there are no zones because the fare is the same regardless of the distance of the trip.
